CGN Ultra frequent flyer
Rating - 99.9%
1082   1   1
Location
Summerland, BC
RULES TO PARTICIPATE:

1) Absolutely no alcohol or drugs
2) Everyone wear hearing protection and shooters should also wear eye protection
3) All shooters are responsible for their own liability insurance - BCWF, etc
4) All shooters will help with road control and range safety.
5) All shooters will follow the instructions and range commands of the range officers. Need a few whistles.
6) All shooters will shoot into designated areas/directions ONLY
7) There are no cal/cartridge restrictions except whatever is Cdn legal. NO restricted firearms allowed...sorry. No incendiary or tracer or anything that can start a fire on impact. We are in a semi desert.
8) All shooters must have a spotter at ALL TIMES. The spotters role is to help with spotting bullet impacts but also with range safety ie oncoming traffic, range stopages, unsafe conditions, etc.
9) All shooters will stop firing if any traffic - non game animal or vehicle- enters ANY shooting area. An immediate cease fire must be called by anyone observing traffic entering/approaching the shooting area. Coyotes may be in season (check regs) and there are plenty in the area. If licensed, fire at will if in designated shooting areas only.
10) Don't litter - pack all litter including cig butts and gum out of the area !!!!

There will be 4 lanes of fire: choose your lane and shoot in the right box which will be marked.
A) is 500 to 800yds
B) is 900yds to 1200yds - now flagged
C) is 1100yds to 1 MILE - now flagged
D) Final area is approx 2000 to 2200yds away - nothing closer so you must be able to adj drop.

All shooters will be given 15 to 20mins of open shooting. They may shoot as many rds and rifles as desired. They will have to stay in ONE shooting lane to avoid any crossfires ie pointing barrels towards other shooters.

At the cease fire, the shooter and spotter will change places and reverse roles. We will continue this format and stop only for lunch if there is interest. We can shoot non stop for 6 hours.

Bring in all the comforts of home you want - food, drink, chairs, tables, etc. Toilets are au naturel - shovel not a bad idea. Pop up awnings and ways to build tents/covered areas is a very good idea. This is rainy season so we should have gear to allow for shooting in lousy weather. I have ZIP. A large walled tent would be perfect.

Shooting tables, or tarps for prone shooting are good ideas. The ground is clear but there may be ticks and there is cactus.

Bring optics - spotting scopes, binos, rangefinders, etc. If you have gongs or reactive targets, AWESOME. A box of clays will be nice to have too. Will need FRS radios for road control.

All shooters should bring ALOT of ammo and have lots of fun. The goal is to shoot as much as possible over two days.

Grumpy shooters will be asked to leave :D

Meeting location is the in Summerland High School parking lot. This is on the corner of Rosedale and Main St (Shell gas station across the street). We will meet up and leave at 8:30 SHARP. Please don't be late as this just reduces shooting time for everyone.

If you need a ride up, show up early and set something up with the trucks that arrive. Best to organise something beforehand so make a post if you need a ride up.

The goal is to set up and get shooting by 9:30. We will stop shooting at 3:30. If you have targets to set up, please make sure you have your tools and parts ready for a quick set up. Otherwise, you may end up spotting for the first shooters downrange.

We can leave the targets set up overnight but not responsible for loss.

Sunday will start as soon as we get there and stop around 2:30 to allow for packing up and a safe exit.

We are shooting on crown land and are at the mercy of traffic. In general, traffic is very low but we will stop shooting if people want to transit through the area. We did loose some time on Saturday last year. We cannot stop traffic from going through.

If there is interest in setting up fun competitions, please post your ideas. Nothing formal will be arranged but that shouldn't stop you from coming up with ways to amuse and entertain the other shooters.

This is ideal terrain for all those tactical shooters to have multiple unknown distance target fun. Get those mil dots working.

Man vs Man multiple target races would be fun. No running around but you can see how fast you can shuck that action and engage multiple targets.

Last year, we were unable to confirm a hit at the 2000/2200yd shooting area. I hope that will not occur again. Lots made it to a mile and I hope many new shooters will make the trip.

I'm all over it, last year was a blast and I'm sure this year will be equally as good.

Thanks Jerry!

Also, I would bank in LRC, Danger Deb, Glock-O-Maniac, and his gun builder side kick (or may be its the other way around).

I won't be going, but would be pleased to donate a box or two of clay birds.
Ii'll send them down with Danger Deb - I won't trust them to LRC, he'll pro'ly bust them all , clumsy as he is!!:D

Didn't post in the Precision forum so get the word out. I am sure space will fill up soon enough.

Snow pack is very low this year so going for the earliest date I could. Hopefully, the weather will be as good as last year.

Cat, thanks for that very generous donation. It is greatly appreciated.

If heading down this way, give me a shout. Easy to get some time off in the afternoon for some LR fun :)

Lionhill, thanks for the med kit. With all these Albertans showing up, having some medical help would be a good thing :dancingbanana::dancingbanana:

Ryan, looking forward to seeing you and your new toy. Hopefully, back from Alta with time to work up a load. If not, I am sure we can get you dialed in over the weekend.

Hi Jerry,

Count me in a a shooter! No gun yet but enough time to put something teeny together...

And we still have a box full of clay's from last year. We'll have to send more lead their way this year!

I'll bring 2 or 3 FRS radios, a Coleman stove, etc...

SteveBC, come on out, this is not a competition. A fun shoot and the opportunity to try out different rifles and learn lot's about long range shooting!

Ok, Troutseeker, I'm in, Central brand peep sights and all. I just wondered if I could do anything at long distances like those without a scope. I'm a total noob at this stuff though... :)
Anyway, sounds like fun and I can be there for both days. In fact, I'll be sleeping in my somewhat camperized van, and will bring whatever seems useful.
I'm looking forward to meeting you folks. What with the Kamloops gun show on the 26th,27th, April is looking to be a great month!

Last year, the range of rifles was from REAL civil war black powder Springfield carbine to the lastest greatest 338 and 50BMG boomer.

This year I expect to see some muzzle loaders as well.

The only category of rifles that doesn't do well is rimfire. Not really set up for distances under 500+yds. However, if you want to push them out that far, bring them down. I will not allow shooting at shorter distances . The richocet/cross fire issue is something I don't want to deal with.

As soon as possible, please post names of shooters coming so we have an accurate count. I will cap at 24 confirmed shooters as there are several in the valley coming. Much over 30 shooters and things are going to get a bit much to handle.

For those new to this event, the road up is VERY rough so trucks/4x4 only. Forget about a camper or towing a trailer. There are hotel accomodations in Summerland and camp grounds. We will arrange for truck pooling to get everyone up there if you are coming up by car - just indicate this as you sign up.

Hmm, I have either an 85 Toyota Van in 2wd or an 86 Civic in front wheel drive. I don't mind taking it slowly on logging roads, I've been up some doozies, but I'll leave it up to your judgement. Definately will need a campground if I can't drive in and stay there, I'm on a tight budget. Either way, I'm in, and would be happy to help in whatever way possible.

You would be surprised at what you can hot with those centrals and a good rifle!
