Summerland Long Range Fun Shoot 2008 - April 12, 13th

I had no problem whatsoever with my old duallie/dinosaur last year, actually I'm thinking my 5th wheeler's been dragged over much worse trails on hunting trips....problem is I don't think that everything will fit into the truck...last year I had to use a shoe horn on Mike to get him into the cab and he wasn't impressed !
My 50 has gained a pound or two, so now I need a hoist to get it out of the truck, and we're not talkin about the rest of the gear thats coming along for the ride...

Sounds like a wager needs to be made. I wonder who is buying the beer?

I am going to push out to a mile if I can get enough scope elevation. Waiting on a scope. Hope it gets here in time.

Considering Troutseeker went to 1400ish yds at last years shoot, I think there were a few people present.

Troutseeker, if anyone doubts your shots send them my way I will vouch for ya.

Real problem is those that doubt always will until you get them out there to do it for themselves. I don't talk alot about my shots as for everyone that sees it or knows it can easily be done there are 1000 that call bullsh*t so my line of thought is those that know know.....those that doubt don't realy matter, because they are to closed minded to ever know and they are the ones missing out.

Max, as LRC said, there are those who do, those that say they do, and many others who haven't got a clue what to do. I have had to field PM's with those who wonder if I meant 200yds not 2000yds.

The earth was flat for a long time too.

As for impact energy of a 75gr 22cal bullet going say 800fps, well we know that 22lr sub ammo has been used to do nasty things to people. I am sure the amax will leave a mark :)

Troutseeker, if you want to stand still, I promise to hit the blue part.
Jerry

PS the first year, we had a shooter who came out with a wonderful TRG in 338 LM. Shot very very well but he was nervous about reaching out beyond 1000yds.

Just before we left on Sunday, he mentioned this to me again so I said, let's go for it. Since I was spotting he felt what the hey.

Happy to say that 6 rds later he had connected at 1 mile and left with a very large grin. Many who were watching couldn't believe how easily shooting that far could be.

If your scope has the adj, we can make the trip....usually.

I wonder what that 75 grain bullet feels like at 1400ish... Maybe like a moskito bite? Any volunteers to check it out? I'll supply the bullet resistant vets...:D

Last year we had the Saskquatch......this year moving targets in bullet proof vests....I like it!! :dancingbanana::D

Troutseeker you must have a few new rookies in the detachment that need a confidence building exercise to give them the confidence in thier gear. :sniper:

If not maybe the guy who doubts your shooting ability wouldnt mind wearing it at the 1 mile mark.....after all what has he got to worry about.

Or we could have a raffle for who gets to shoot....probably raise enough money to pay for all our prime rib dinners and beers at the pub........We are doing the prime rib at the pub again arn't we Jerry???;)

OOOOOOOOOOOOHhhhhhhh im getting excited again.........:dancingbanana::D:D

Long Range Canuck's A game is puttin Deb on the end of the rifle. :p

But he did make a lucky 1700 yard free standing shot using a sling, though...............;)

OUCH!!! and I bought you dinner last year!!! Actually it was 3 standing shots with 2 hits, but who's counting:p;);)

Jerry as far as your question about how far are we going to go to Glock.....

If I may interject.....as far as we can. It is hard to spot impacts on the shale pile though, it doesnt kick up enough dust at 2km. Just wondering if there is a position we could take further back from lastyears fireing line to impact the same ground as last years 1 mile mark. That area kicked up nice dust to call corrections from.

Last year was an outstanding shoot so if nothing what so ever changes we would all be extreamly happy with the way it is set up.

I'm with you there LRC. I'm sure hoping we can set up on the ridge behind where we shot from last year.

This pic from last year is looking back towards where we were shooting from. This plate was 823yds away. I couldn't help but notice a massive ridge behind however. That would be astounding. I hope I didn't spoil your thunder there Mystic, recon is a bad habit of mine.

Y'know, using aperture sights and having these middle-aged eyes and glasses and all, does anyone mind if I bring a can or two of day-glo orange for the gongs?

Glock and LRC, short answer is we can set up something that is in the 4 to 5 second time of flight range but it can't work on the weekend.

Not sure how my work schedule is this far out but think coming in a day early or leaving a day later.

Let me know how much elevation you have from 2000m.
