Summerland Long Range Fun Shoot 2008 - April 12, 13th

Quite the holiday hijack :)

Little doubt that the present economy is going to limit some from travel (going to limit some from doing much of anything). Not much we can do to change that.

If all goes well, the event will be in Mid April again. I expect that we will see a full turn out. The response from this post once it got bumped up again has been strong.

Definitely seeing interest from Alberta and various parts of BC. Very pleased to see more local interest as well.

There is definitely nothing wrong with more events in other provinces. Wouldn't it be great if there was one or more shoots in EVERY province/territory?

The sport needs more activities and those willing to do the leg work to put them on. More the merrier!

Glock, look forward to your new post to announce your LR shoot. That would be very exciting indeed. Good luck....

Jerry

LRC, will let everyone know as soon as I can confirm the date. Thinking mid/late Feb before I know. As usual, the target date will be mid April.

Look forward to seeing you both again. Hopefully, there will be a 15" gong we can try smacking at 2000 and 2500yds. That'll be challenging.

2000 ??.....2500 ??....I'll tell you right now, I've got so much faith in hitting that at those distances, I'm bringing a hammer just to say I did ! :D

Hats off to anyone who puts on a long range shoot.
I will be at all of them if time permitting!! BC AB Sask, let me know when and where. I like to learn to reach out and touch things at a mile, only time will tell.
The more the merrier.
Oh and sometimes I can shoot to!

I'm doing this for the camaraderie and new friendships, cost? isn't that what they make credit cards for!!

Wow....You too Brian ??.....I thought I was the only one suffering from .50 cal withdrawl. :(

Ya hate to say it Kevan, I've been busy with the horses and getting settled in the new ranch a year goes by quickly lately. I have the land to shoot but the neighbors and my Horses don't appreciate the .50BMG I have my eye on a couple of places to let it rip just gotta set up permision.

A little off topic but I know your a fan of the old and new, I got myself a Henry Repeating Arms golden boy in .22, It may be something that interests you. This little rifle is a laser to shoot and an action as smooth as butter. I am waiting for my local gun shop to get in the .44 mag and a 30/30. They are old style lever guns, but are as beautiful as they are functional I think They would pair up nice with your Sharps. Would be nice to see that shooting stick in Summerland again. I still gotta get one of those.:D

In case you two didn't know, there are some enterprising gents shooting Black powder cartridges getting MOA and better at 800yds with orig style Sharps type rifles.

One is in Vancouver. I think they are mostly using paper patched slugs.

That is down right amazing. One of my friends, who might come out, is working on this stuff too and is getting some amazing results.

Nice to see old iron playing in the modern age.

I should warn you, I've been doing a lot of very complicated and technically advanced load development ( secret of course ) with the big Sharps and now feel safe to say its shooting "minute of Mountain"...

Now if I can only reduce the time of bullet flight by a few minutes I'll be a force to be reckoned with....:D

Great to see the shoot is on again, weather, work, and family permitting I will be there as well.

Im the only guy in Alberta who prefers to drive a Car when I travel 800+ kms :)

Not totally true. I take great pleasure in ripping through the mountains in something that doesn't limit out at 160km/hr.

Don't think I hit the limit switch in my truck yet over 160km/hr!!;):D and it still has the power to pull your beamer up the mountian, or drive over it if it gets stuck!!:p:D

Unreal !!....Would you believe my old dinosaur couldn't hit 160 km/hr if it was dropped out of an airplane @ 20,000 ft. ??
Sorry for the hijack Jerry...I just hadta....
