But... perfect for Police where that's not as big an issue. You get some advantages as well. The Colt C8 IUR is currently in service (sort of) with the RCMP. The older 6940 was also mostly for Police use. As for integrated uppers, the LMT MRP and LMT MWS are very nice. While not a huge rail fan and never have been even back during the fad when everyone else was giving me a hard time for not being onboard the fad, I do have to say that I like the IUR and the LMT monlithic uppers. Especially the LMT version which I actually prefer over the Colt.

Interestingly enough the Colt Canada C8 IUR for RCMP issue has the lower done up like a LMT. The LMT/B5 Sopmod stock and Ergo grip are standard issue with the RCMP version. A favourite combo of mine after buying my LMT rifles. I used it for some ADCOR builds as well with the lowers. With the LMT this combo is standard.

For military I could definitely see why they wouldn't want the monolithic upper except for designated marksmen rifles or other specific uses. For general issue being able to easily replace the upper parts without having to replace the whole upper could have some advantages. Especially if you can't just send it back to an armorer for repair/replacement. But that's really not an issue for police or my range trips.

I'm not convinced that field maintenance would be all that of an issue, although I'm not a logistician but merely a user. It would seem it isn't an issue for the Dutch Army. I would expect that the kind of incident/impact needed to bring down an IUR would also damage the the gun beyond safe use. At any rate, we don't carry spare parts per se in the field so any rifle that goes down will be sent to the rear via the echelon for work by a specialist; a new rifle will then follow shortly through the echelon. To add to the point, end-users are generally not ''gun savvy people'' to begin with and might not be able to fix the rifle themselves (especially not in field conditions).

I would've thought that the IUR was lighter than the standard C7/C8 upper because it eliminates several parts. Perhaps a slim version without the quad cheese grater would be lighter?

When the IUR comes out I will be on that quick time. The upper though, don't care about there lowers to much.
 
The Agency I work for picked some up a few years back. I was shocked at how heavy it was compared to my old C7 and my ARs at home... That said, we're not carrying them around, and they do shoot very well...

I just ordered the SA15.7 (C8). My LGS (Green Diamond) is a dealer for Korth. Really looking forward to getting my hands on this rifle. I will post a pick when I pick it up.

Problem is most people that have them don't actually use them for what they are there for. they just put useless plastic/polymer parts of them that are not really needed.

As for the IUR as another mentioned if the upper gets damaged as in the rails especially you have to replace the whole thing.
