Taken from Hunt Ontario Forums:

Hello All,
I have to rant...

The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters have petitioned the City of Kawartha Lakes Council, (once again), who has deferred the Sunday Gun Hunt to feedback from residents through Public Meetings hosted by the OFAH. Kawartha Lakes council has already denied this issue in the past and is now the first Municipality to ask the OFAH to host a public information meeting/forum.
Their are already over 100 municipality in Ontario that have joined the Sunday Gun Hunt, such as Rama and the Town of Whitby.

Sunday Gun Hunting in City of Kawartha Lakes

Saturday September 15, 2007

Lindsay, Ont.

Manvers Community Centre

You might not be aware that the City of Kawartha Lakes has a strong movement of anti-hunting and last year they tried to implement a "No Discharge Firearm By-law" but was revised to allow hunting thanks to many hunting supporters, gun owners and conservationists. These Anti's have also acquired large tracts of land (presently over 6,000 acres) in northern Kawartha Lakes also known as Carden Township and turning these lands into sanctuaries. Their mandate is to aquire several more thousand acres in the same area over the next 20 years with taxpayers money. These Anti's already have some of Kawartha Council convinced that Sunday Gun Hunting and all hunting is a bad thing by being very vocal. And they will attend these meetings also.

We must send a strong message to the City of Kawartha Lakes Council that hunting is here to stay for future generations by making sure the Sunday Gun Hunt is implemented in the City of Kawartha Lakes. If not implemented, the Anti's will not stop their.

Please attend one of these meetings or both and voice your opinion and/or send an e-mail to City of Kawartha Lakes Council.

Thanking you in advance.
