If the municipalities have the say weather they will allow Sunday hunting or not in Southern Ontario, what about areas outside a municipality? I mean the waters of the great lakes. Would it be OK to hunt waterfowl off shore say 100 yds out into the lake, even though the land adjacent does not allow Sunday hunting? I feel as you are not in that municipality you could hunt. What are your opinions? Who rules these areas?

They hav'nt said they were going to allow migratory bird hunting on Sunday yet have they?

Unless its specifically stated in the Migratory regs.(some areas are) or a municipal bylaw my understanding is that it will be allowed. They may have to change this little blurb to include the new Sunday hunting zones.

No person shall hunt migratory birds on the following Sundays during the hunting season in the Southern District: from September 11 to January 1, and February 26. These Sunday exclusions do not apply, and Sunday hunting is permitted, in the United Counties of Prescott and Russell, in the Township of Haldimand, in the County of Northumberland, and in that portion in Wildlife Management Unit 63 of the County of Renfrew. Sunday exclusions do not apply to falconers who may hunt only ducks on Sundays from September 25 to December 18 inclusive.

It sucks that folks so tied to their work that having an extra day would be nice. But till its a go, this day can be a great day to take the next generation afield , and check for stand locations , sign , and other such things. Having a camera along you can get some fine pics of you and yours in the wild.

I do not care if it is a municipality or crown land..............not allowing hunting on Sunday is total B.S.!!!! Religion is not suppose to be pushed on anyone these days and what do you think the reason for not hunting on Sunday originally stemmed from?

I see all kinds of church goers...........and don't get me wrong, I have nothing against it.................who feel free to go fishing on Sunday, or golfing after service, or cutting firewood, etc, etc. If I decide to hunt on Sunday as my chosen form of recreation that should be my decision, no one elses.

If people don't want anyone hunting on their property on Sundays, fine.............don't give them permission.

You want to go to church, fine go to church. I will feel a lot closer to God out in the woods than stuck in a building, pretending I am having a good time and keeping up appearances.

Thinking about putting a boat out in front of Miramichi? As you are aware the cottage coalition has got the municipality to put a bylaw in which prevents hunting along the shore between port and south. But if you were to put a boat in the bay then you are officially in federal waters and therefore the bylaw does not apply. So I assume if the municipality did not allow hunting(don't worry they will) you would not be in the municipality since you would be on the lake which is federal jurisdiction and thus be able to hunt. Besides you could just head north or east and you would be able to hunt.
I'm just pumped for turkey season and being able to shoot on sundays just outside of town.

I know about the Miramichi bay By law. But what about the rest of the lake? Once off shore you are not in the municipality, but a Fed regulated area and I believe you could hunt.

Word on the street is that their starting Sunday hunting here on the Rock this comming October. BOUT FRIGGIN' TIME! Take that Berry Pickers!

I believe if waterfowl is included our season would be shortened by the number of sundays included in order to comply with the migratory bird act

As the migratory bird act is federal and the Sunday hunting is provincial. If you are not allowed to hunt duck/geese now, the Sunday hunting reg won't change that. Sunday hunting reg is for province controled hunts and not regulated hunting ie: varmints/predators.

The new Sunday reg don't take effect till Sept 1st 06 I believe

Getting back to hunting at Mirimichi Bay. One of the Owen Sound bush cops pointed out to me that once you are in the water you are out of Saugeen Shores and in the Provice of Ontario. Saugeen Shores by-law doesn't apply once out in the water. He was even willing to come over and hunt in the bay just to challenge the law and show it didn't apply off shore.
