sunday hunting

Yup, it's up to the municipality. In my case, it is the 'City of Kawartha Lakes" We just fought and won the battle for Sunday hunting there.... for now.

Hey John, I took the liberty of looking this up, as your post had me happier then a pig in mud, and area 75 has to wait a little while longer, according to the City of Kawartha Lakes website.

Sunday Gun Hunting not legal yet
April 14, 2008
For immediate release

Although City of Kawartha Lakes Council gave Sunday gun hunting the green light last October, the Ministry of Natural Resources has not yet officially changed their regulation.

“Sunday gun hunting in Kawartha Lakes will not be legal until the regulation is changed by the Ministry of Natural Resources,” said City Clerk Judy Currins. “They only change the regulations once per year and it is anticipated it will be done late this spring or in early summer.” The city notified the Ministry of Natural Resources in December of 2007 of Council’s decision to allow Sunday gun hunting in a one year trial.

The city will receive formal notification from the Ministry when the regulation has passed but until that time Sunday gun hunting remains illegal in the municipality.

A check of the 2008 regs confirms that the city was too late getting this going, and it may be a bit before we get started. I'm going back to edit my post so we don't get any confusion.

FYI.......Finally approved!!!

Sunday gun hunting now permitted in the City of Kawartha Lakes
September 8, 2008
For immediate release

Following recent amendments to the regulations under the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act, the Ministry of Natural Resources has announced that Sunday gun hunting is now permitted in 147 municipalities and 20 geographic townships across the province, including the City of Kawartha Lakes.

The federal government has also made adjustments to the hunting seasons under Migratory Bird Convention Act so that hunting of migratory birds (geese, ducks, etc.) will more closely follow other hunting in these areas.

Sunday hunting regulations will be updated on a bi-annual basis – once in the summer, in time for the fall hunting season, as well as in the late winter, in time for the Spring wild turkey seasons.

Questions regarding the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act in general or this legislation in particular can be sent to Gary Martin, Fish and Wildlife Legislation Specialist, Fish and Wildlife Branch, Ministry of Natural Resources, P.O. Box 7000, 300 Water St, Peterborough, ON K9J 8M5. (705)755-1373 gmartin@ontario.ca

well heres my plan...but i need the help from many gun nutz members and hunters..
first off i need some one to write up a letterof some type that we can all copy and paste
basically it will say..
being an avid hunter and local supporter of your area in many years gone past, with spending tons of our hard earned $$$ in your town..
this spending will stop and and our group will travel down the road a bit to spend our money in(put name of town here) that supports and encourages sunday hunting..

i know im crappy at putting words with what i think, but i have this idea in my head that i believe will help our cause..

a couple of hundred hunters in one area spends a crap load of money in any given town;)

Count me in You talking about the guy who has a gas station on a specific corner!!!!!!!!!!!!

I and my father have 200 acres off 36 not to far away from that corner..

I thought he used to hunt at one time, but apperantly he voted no!

I was not able to attend I was away.

We are in harvey!

if your talking of the gas bar at crowes line road..
you are correct..that bruce dude is a ####..

btw..our deer camp is just up the road off of 36 ,from that gas bar also

Yes I see Triton out at the range now and then, we are not so far apart!

I dont hunt the first week thier, but I try to hunt the second week with my dad, if there are tags left.

Lots of deer this year and starting to be too many moose!

How about you guys,,,I assume its loaded with deer as well

My dad had 30 deer that he fed all year, as a hobby
You must be close to the guy that hunt on the pit property, they own lots of land...
