Went out last sunday for another walk and shoot.
First light setup here. Wind from my 11:00
After a few howls and getting responses from across the valley. This guys shows up to my 3 oclock from over the top of the ridge. 87yds
Really nice coyote. Thick neck with some fair sized paws for a youngish coyote. According to its teeth. Maybe just a good dental plan.
Moved down the valley behind me, did some howls got some back, real close but the wind wasnt right. So instead of wrecking it Ill come back.
Drove across the valley to where I heard the mornings responses and walked in to a dead cow pile. Missed a easy one here a few weeks back. Saw 2 around the dead cow. Crawled up to the fence line and waited for them for 20-30 minutes to present a shot as they were behind the trees. Shot the one on the dead cow and the other one not in a hurry kind of looked around and walked to into the low ground. It presented me a easy shot for seconds but mu mag fu&%$&ed up, so no shot. Wait another 20 minutes to see if it would pop out but nothing. Started walking in and sure enough it popped out right by the dead one, no shot on it.
Kept walking and ANOTHER one popped out in the same spot and this time I got a running shot. Could see instant blood, but... gut shot.
It ran.
Dead cow is right above my rifle in the trees.
The one snacking
The runner, which didnt go far. Just over the hill to the next bush.
I was waaay over dressed so with the weather now above 0, that was the end of my day.
