My sister found this beauty at 150 feet down of the coast near Vancouver. After a good soaking in WD, I was able to move the bolt. The rifle is really light as the wood is hollow. It hangs proudly on the wall

Thats an awesome find! Any markings visible?
The only marking I can see is on the band and that says england w/ a number and E stamped by it. I can just make out MK4. Yeah, who knows the story behind this. I hate to speculate, but the very least is somebody lost a rifle awhile ago. The stock is completely eaten away from torredos

LOL - believe t or not, if you can work that bolt it needs to be registered after the amnesty expires! Crazy world we live in...

found rifle

It looks like one of the Golden State Arms "Commando Rifles" that they made in the mid 60's. Two models were made: one with a steel nosecap on the other with the band moved back about 1/2 inch. Barrel was shortened about 1/2 inch as well. These occassionaly get sold off as "Experimental Commando rifles" but are just a US dealers stab at a cheap jungle carbine in the 60's

It is not uncommon, for BC fishermen to carry guns on board, in fact it is very common. I bet it ended up in the drink by one of those guys for some reason or another, 150 ft of water is pretty far out to "throw" a full length heavy rifle. And i doubt any ciminal would get a boat and drive out to dump the gun when you can walk out to Point Grey or Stanley park and dump it all the same at the low tide mark.

Anyone notice the handguard appears too long?

yes, loooks like the upper handguard is longer then normal. The mid band appears to be in the correct location.

could it be a No5 upper handguard with a shortened No4 Stock

for handguard comparison
