Hi Folks!

Could you tell me witch revolver would you buy. I prefer the look of the Blackhawk but i'm affraid that it will jump in my hand during the recoil with the plow grip. The recoil of The 629 push straight back in my hand. Did you try both? I never tried the Blackhawk.

Thanks

I have a super blackhawk, and a super redhawk, the redhawk has a.similar grip design to the 629(imo), the redhawk has noticably less recoil. This is just a grip standpoint. But the blackhawk is very manageable also.

All my opinion.

I've had a 4.62" Blackhawk and the 4.2" 629. Like them both but totally different obviously.

The Blackhawk is designed to roll up in your hand during recoil. There is a lot of muzzle rise but I found it very comfortable.

The 629 definitely pounds your hand more. Flip side is it that I found it a little easier to control (with the right grips).

Net net - I could shoot the Blackhawk longer without fatigue with full magnums, and could shoot the Smith faster but preferred specials.

Have a 10.5”Super Blackhawk. I find that it rolls nicely in your hand. Tried a 4” 629 and it does pound you more.

My 2 cents
I found the vertical portion of the back strap on th Smith slammed into the web of my hand.
The fit and finish on the Ruger was much better as well.
