SIG 550,

I was looking at some GUN ####, and I decided to ask my Military Gun smith friend what his opinion was of the SIG 550 and its HYPE :jerkit: $3000 dollar price tag.

His response was "Absolute CRAP" He says that the receivers are made of plastic, and that they develop cracks which can lead to catastrophic failure of the weapon.

So all the guys out there who have a knowlage of the gun give me some of your opinions on the rifle, and your answers for why it costs $3000 dollars.:jerkit:

In the future, i recommend that you ask your questions here. It is not because somebody is a gunsmith that it makes them knowledgeable! A lot of people think that they know everything. This forum possess real hands on experienced persons, all the answers are here.

I will let the others describe to you the Sig PE 90 wich is one of the best fireams in the world.

(BTW just by looking at internet pictures, you can figure that the receiver is not made of plastic)

Your friend, the military gunsmith, doesn't know what he is talking about. The receiver of a SIG 550 is stamped steel. He may be confusing it with the SIG 556 which has a polymer lower receiver. Both which are prohibited in Canada.
The Swiss Arms Classic Green/Black Special rifles, which are non restricted in Canada, also have stamped steel receivers.

The SIG 556 is an aluminum lower, isn't it?

You're kidding right? The receiver of the 556 is stamped steel and the lower receiver is aluminum alloy. It is prohibited in Canada. The Sig 550 is all stamped steel for the upper and lower receiver. It is prohibited in Canada. The PE90 which is available in Canada is stamped steel for both upper and lower receiver.

ALL are excellent weapons and of the highest quality. I own a PE90 and having fired and operated many firearms of this nature, I would put it in the top 5 ever. Buy one and use it and you will see why they cost 3 large. They don't fail no matter what you put them through.

Your "friend" has his head so far up his ass that he is not breathing oxygen anymore and I would assume this is the nature of his opinion.

I was mixing up the 556 and the 522. The 522 has the polymer lower. More wake up juice needed. :p
 
Your friend is a moron.

Not because he has an opinion. Because he has absolutely no clue what he is talking about and still offers his as though it were of intrinsic value.
