Well that was not your initial question , but anyway, it has to do with your body position when shooting prone , easy access, less motion, now there may also be an advantage in lens positioning inside the scope, but thats for a tech to answer.Thanks, but whats the real advantage of getting the side focus?

I prefer the side focus when I'm hunting earth pigs so that I can dial out the parallax (focus on the critter) while looking at 'em and not taking my eye off.
I like the rear focus while at the range (known distance) so I can just adjust the focus for the distance I'm at (to the target)... also a cheaper price point.
Whatever works for you and yer budget.....
