Super tight bore!

I have a German Mauser rifle circa 1936. A regular 22 LR cleaning jag and/or brush is ridiculously tight in this rifle's bore.
Had to purchase a Tipton 17 calibre cleaning rod and 20 calibre jags to clean this one. (actually bronze brush & bore mops)
Anyone else run into similar problems with thier rimfire rifles?

Not sure, I had an issue when I was running a little too large of a patch and the patch was draping back past the jag and causing the rod end to be too large to push through. Didn't have to take the step of using a .17 tipton though.

This is fairly common. A lot of people tend to buy the .20 caliber rods to compensate for the tight bores. Not quite as flimsy as the .17 rods but still tight enough to do a good job cleaning. Cheers,

About 20 minutes ago I ordered a couple of .20 calibre pointed jags from P&D that fit this smaller thread form of 5/40.
