Received a bunch of these SUPER XL paper hulls today. High brass with smooth yellow paper tube. They seem to be primed with a CIL primer of some sort.

Has anyone had any experience with them? Where can I find load data?

Any information is appreciated thanks

Finding load data will be a challenge. I've used some old CIL paper hulls before. They are good quality, but load data/pressure info is non-existent, especially with an unknown primer. What I did with some miscellaneous old paper hulls was load them with black powder and card/fibre wads. That stuff is very forgiving and will make a safe, effective load no matter what standard combination of powder/lead shot you put in there. For instance, 3-1/4 drams of FFG black powder, over powder card, fiber wad(s) and 1-1/8 oz of shot will go bang, will kill birds or break clays, and will be safe in any shotgun. Messy and old school, but it works. Have fun!

The # 8 speer manual lists cil paper hulls in the shotgun section. It 48p as primer in canuck paper hulls. Most reloading books from the 70's back have a shotgun section. I have no idea if those are CIL hulls you have but they do look it.

They say Super XL which makes me think Winchester Western.
If they were Blue, Imperial (CIL) would fit the bill, but the brass would be stamped as such.
My 2nd edition (I think) Lyman shotshell reloading book has loads for paper hulls.
You may have to cut one lengthwise to match it up to a photo in the manual.

250 sav is correct. Super XL cartridges were produced by XL Explosives, in Hawkesbury, Ontario. Canuck was one of the brands manufactured by CIL. So, the load data 250 sav also posted may be useful as a reference. These hulls may be better candidates for collectors though, rather than reloading.
