Finally got some decent results from the superformance with a 60g bergers in my 22-250, made up 10 loads to validate the charge and seating, all at 43.0g (this is there recommended charge) and all seated at 2.41" oal. The charge weights where checked on both scales as I do for all testing.
Shot 4 out of 5 on the first group, then got a tight bolt and popped the primer out, wtf. Where did the pressure spike come from.

Every gun has its limit, because there is slight variation in every shot, if you Are at the cusp of overpressure, one shot occasionally will put you into the sticky bolt category (if you are Lucky).
It simply sounds like You have found the point of that load combo that you need to back down from.
If you are still not satisfyed with your results, start again with a different powder and/or bullet. Just be sure to change only One variable at a time. It makes tracking the performance cause and effect easier.

Allot of the time us reloaders are guilty of trying to get more performance than a given cartridge is designed for.

Shooting"near" the top end of performance of a given cartridge "TENDS" to give the best results. But not always.

Have fun and keep experimenting! Its fun and rewarding!

the other cases dont' look that bad, Im guessing your shooting a remington 700 ?

Was it very warm out ?

Can you make the OAL longer or are you already very close to the lands ?

My 22-250 / Remington 700 liked a 2.45-2.500 OAL but your mileage may vary there.

in any case this results mandates backing off a grain or two and some re-tweaking.

It looks like you have some cratering on the other primers.

Edit - the 43.0gr charge is the max charge and listed for a 60gr Hornady V-Max, which is not the bullet you are using. You are also using Nosler brass (as opposed to W-W in the data), which may have a different capacity (read less) than the brass used in the load on Hogdgon's web site. Lastly, what primers are you using? The data is given with Winchester LR primers.

All of these factors can stack up and lead to much higher pressure.

SAAMI OAL for the 22-250 is 2.350", so you are 0.060" over length. How close are you to the lands? Is it possible that you were on the verge of engraving the bullet and that one round was a bit longer and into the lands?

Wow, lots of great info to think about. The rifle that shot these cartridges is my Savage 12 twist heavy barrel varmint, I have loads developed with 60g bergers over varget and RL15 that are very accurate.
Just thought I'd try the superformance with some 60g vmaxes but after many series of test loads I gave up, .75 moa was the best showing. Then I ran some OCW tests with the Bergers and 42.6g and 43g shot the same. The lands are at 2.475" so I worked back from there finding 2.41" grouped the best at just over .5 moa. I used WLR primers for these loads, They are cratered but there a soft primer. no other signs of high pressure.
I'll back it off to 42.6g run a seat test for that and see where I end up.
