Hello Guys and Gals,

I just wanted to post a PSA about Canadian shooting sports in Rio. I just looked, and we have only sent two Athletes to represent the shooting sports. Cynthia Meyer is participating in the Women's Trap on Sunday August 7th, and Lynda Kiejko will be representing us in Air Pistol on the same day.

I want to cry havoc and let slip the dogs of encouragement. These women are at the world stage representing all of us. As sport shooters we should double down and treat these ladies as heroes. They are the only shooters in Canada who were willing and able to represent the shooting sports abroad and I think we need to show them how much we are behind them.

If you actually believe that Shooting Sports is a sport, then lets let the whole world know that these are our athletes. These women are our kin, and that shooting is a respected and honorable pastime that is alive and well in the Greatest White North. Lets let them know what they are doing for us.

How or where do we show our support?

Twitter, Facebook, Instagram. Try and tune in. Send letters to whomever is providing the coverage that you would like to tune in to the shooting sports. Learn something about the athletes themselves, provide awareness that Canada has Olympic shooting athletes. Not all of us have all of the social media, but those of us who do could increase their exposure, and the exposure of the sport in general.

Above are the Olympic Biographies of the two ladies.

I think if we want to promote shooting sports in Canada, we should raise the profile of our Canadian Shooting Athletes. We could start with exposure first, if there is a way to get direct messages to them even better (I'm looking but coming up dry).

Living in a country whose government and police have nothing but contempt for firearms and the shooing sports makes it more difficult for Canadians to be competitive. Good luck ladies.

But, in spite of that we have generated quite few world class shooters, Susan Nattrass and John Primrose come easily to mind.

Their time was a long time ago, before the firearms regulations became so stupid in Canada. We aren't producing much in the area of top level shooters these days.
