Had a chance to shoot 1000 yards for the first time this past week in Texas. Met a young guy who is starting to teach LR rifle courses, and had a chance to test his range and equipment.

Shooting a suppressed 6.5 Creedmore with factory ammo (Prime Ammunition). Scope is an Athlon Cronus (which was actually pretty nice), and rifle is Bighorn Arms action with Rock Creek barrel. Suppressor is SilencerCo.

And here at the results of my first two shots!

Should have taken some pics with the 5 round group but ran out of time. Had to go back at night with the Mule and get more pictures.

The 5 in the orange are my first 5 rounds.

Put another 5 rounds downrange using a tripod an Pig Saddle.

You can see my group opened up a bit... but still 5 rounds on target. :)

I wasn't a big 6.5 creedmore believer before, but I'm starting to see some of the benefits. Flatter and faster than .308 makes a big difference!

If anyone is interested in PRS or LR shooting in the San Antonio TX area, let me know and I'll put you in touch with some good guys. :)

I shot my buddy's suppressed 6.5 creed out to 900 some yards after a match down in WA this summer. Was about to take my first shot and he was kicking my foot, "what're you doing? take off your muffs!" haha. Pretty damn civilized shooting with no ear pro and man does a suppressed 6.5 not push back...

Ha I had the exact same thing. "Why are you wearing muffs?" I thought it would be waaaay louder. You can hear the bullet whizzing all the way to target. Suppressors rule!

Guess the legalities of a Canadian citizen to go down?

It is really quite simple... Do you have a PAL? do you have a Passport? Any reason to deny entry into the USA?

Fill out ATF Form 6 (most current version) if you want to bring down a firearm. When approved, get an invite from the event you are going to.

Enjoy...

Jerry

PS... great shooting by the way... I do like "Quieters"

Love testing with them. Its so crazy how they are enforced in Europe and outlawed here. Don't like the extra length it adds to the OAL of the gun but run the reflex ones when we can and they help out a lot.

Gunsite Academy considers their courses ITAR controlled and will not teach non US civilians.

At least the last time I looked into it.

Well, we got alot of talented shooters and teachers in Canada. Milcun, Furlong and Tactical Teacher come to mind.

and we have the real estate to put theory to practise.

Thanx Jerry.

Sometime ago there were concerns about non Americans getting training in the US.

K&M, Rifles Only & Core Shooting Solutions all allow foreigners to train in their courses, and they are some of the biggest names in precision rifle shooting. There are others that will allow as well.

Yes, competitions are fine, training mayyybe an ITAR issue and lots of places are shying away from having Canadians in classes.

Incorrect for precision rifle. Plenty of good options. A tiny amount of research will show that.

If you guys have the ambition to actually take on a course and learn, there are PLENTY of options state side.
