Surefire forend on Grizzly 870?

I tried various search strings and came up dry. If this has been covered anywhere, I apologize in advance.

I'm interested in a light for my grizzly 870 (the original ones that Can-Am brought in, not the mag fed or 15 inchers), and like the function of the Surefire forend.

My question: does having the SF mounted on a short barrelled Grizzly pose any problems? In looking at pictures of the SF, size-wise it looks like the light will stick past the muzzle... is the possibility there of a stray bit of shot taking it out? Or does the spread on a cylinder bore only open up a bit further from the barrel?

I obviously don't want to create a health hazard (or ruin a $300 light) from sheer stupidity, but would really like to know if anyone has any experience/insight into this.

Canada ammo has knock off ones. Try that first, then drop the dough on a shurefire.

It shouldn't be a problem, but it will stick out a lot. It sticks out past the end of a 14" barrel, kinda defeats the point doesn't it?

How much would it stick out though? 1 inch or the entire flashlight? I'm curious also since i want to try the knock-off forend and put it on a 15' Grizzly MAG

If you buy a forend light that is made for a Rem 870 you may have to enlarge the interior diameter of the new forend slightly. The outside diameter of the action bar assembly on my grizzly is slightly larger than the Remington version. I put a wooden 870 forend on my Grizzly and had to enlarge it so it would slip over snugly without cracking.
