Surefire Forend

So I noticed they came out with the 618 lmg which has 200 lumens, much better than the original that has 100 lumens. Unfortunately the MSRP on their site is $425 USD. Has anyone ever been able to replace the bulb from the original model 618 to get more lumens, like dropping in a Cree bulb?

The Crees work just fine (brighter than the surefire LED too). The surefire LED will drop in as well if you want to spend the $80 or so on it.
I have a Cree Q2 in my 618. Recoil is not a problem for it (OO and slugs (non-magnum, I have'nt tried it with magnums, nor do I want to)). In a dark field in can see whats in the tree line 100 yards away.

Thanks for the CREE info. I'll stay away from the SF LED though. I had that for my G2 and found it was still pretty weak, not even close to my FENIX TK10.

I read on here somwhere people buying these forends http://www.canadaammo.com/product.php?productid=31&cat=0&page=1 and replacing the bulb assembly with a LED assembly with great results, and all for very little money.
