What FoxAlpha said. They are the only brand of weapon light I trust. I have had 10 Surefires in the last couple of years, all were great. Just have to keep a close eye on models and lumens as I have made the mistake of buying older models like the Scout m600c or the x400, as I have bought both previously thinking I was getting a good deal on both a Scout m600u and a x400u. Only about a 300lmn difference lol.

SureFire is definitely the "go to" brand for professionals, and for good reason. But that said, there are some very decent offerings at more affordable prices from Insight and Streamlight. Both brands see professional use as well, but have nowhere near the market-share that SureFire enjoys.

Personally, I think you think about what you expect from your light and what features you find important, then take a look at the offerings from all three brands and see what fits the bill the best at a price point you are comfortable with. An additional consideration is holsters. What lights does your holster manufacturer of choice actually make holsters (that fit your pistol) for?

You really can't go wrong with SureFire WeaponLights (I usually have at least 2 or 3 different SF lights in the gun safe) but depending on your needs and budget, there are other quality options out there.

Hope this helps! Good luck with your decision!

They are a great light, I have one of both of my pistols. Illumination is great, lots of distance while still giving enough flood to maintain some level of peripheral vision. Once mounted they are rock solid, plus holsters are fairly common for them, which is a big difference from some of the other flashlight brands out there. Battery life is good using surefire brand batteries. As an added bonus, Surefire has the best warranty in the business, and will back it up, I have had lights broken by my own fault, and they were still fixed/replaced at no cost to me. I cannot recommend surefire lights enough, I have 13 of them now, and still keep buying more. And like others have noted, these lights are BRIGHT!

I've yet to step up to the higher output models, I find 200 lumens just right. If that works for you, you can find the older X300 models for ALOT cheaper than the new ultras.

My measly collection so far, but growing.
As a test to their durability, the one on my 1911 has a broken lens and it still functions as good as the one on my glock. Unsure how it broke as it was purchased this way. Surefire has already told me they will fix it free of charge (minus shipping of course) but I've yet to bother as it's worked just fine for the 3 years I've been using it.
