My apologies if this topic has already been covered. I am just getting back into hunting and shooting after an inexplicable LONG absence. Upon examining my shotgun, a modern double barrel, I noticed a little rust has formed. What is the best way to remove it? Will removing it damage the finish? Will in need to be re-blued?

Thanks in advance for your help, nothing worse than rust your guns!

X3 oil and superfine steel wool

Stay away from the chemical solvents, there's no need for them here
As long as you dont rub it too much in the same spot, the finish will be fine..maybe a hair lighter if you go at it too much

make sure you gt decent steel wool. the cheaper stuff you may find chunks in which can scratch the surface of the gun.

but yes the oil and 0000 steel wool is the way to go. if it gets a little thicker(the rust) you may need to leave it. or get a littler rougher on that spot which will end with you needing a Blueing pen.
