Surface Rust!

How do you guys remove minor surface rust that shows up on barrels of stored guns in a cabinet?

Use fine steel wool and gun oil or an all-in-one gun cleaner like G96 Gun Treatment.

Wet the rusted area with the oil / cleaner and softly polish it off witht he steel wool. Rust is soft don't need to rub too hard. If you do it right the finish won't be disturbed but the rust will be gone.

I use a true pentrating oil (NOT WD40, but Kroils, or PB Blaster) and just leave it on the metal for a while. Wipe and repeat.

Use 0000 steel wool gently with oil on the stubborn stuff.

Any oil with 0000 steel wool will do. You may want to look into why you're getting rust in your cabinet too.

Make sure you wipe your guns down with oil before putting them in. Dont wipe it down then grab it with your sweaty hans to put it away, use a rag to handle it.
