Surge in Chemical Warfare Gear.

3D printed gas mask canister converters and expired russian, Serbian and Chinese canisters won’t do us much good here in any real event….

Exactly. There's a good reason why the government bulk dumps a lot of old surplus masks, canisters, and suits for a small fraction of what they paid for it and buys new replacements. It all deteriorates over time and loses its safety rating.

I don't think that's entirely true, I've seen the military throw out perfectly good gear, equipment, and sell off stuff that still works because they need to buy newer stuff to use up budget space. Other times perfectly good stuff is thrown out only because it's cheaper to buy new stuff in a new location rather than pay to ship it. I'd guess when determining expiry dates things like competitors life span, contract lengths, chances of reorders all play a roll, not just when the product is actually good till. Having said that I'd prefer one that wasn't expired but an expired one is better than nothing.

Expired, but just how Vintage are these? Basic rule Ive always heard is: Don’t trust anything before 1980 and don’t trust anything made by the soviets. RE: Asbestos -
How 'old' are these filters? Thnx

The carbon is probably shot, so not great for Sarin B, but for nukes you just need a dust filter. Which you can make form N95 filter material and a expired canister plus rubber band (or 3D print):

We’re all Doomed with one wipe of our Prepper stash of toilet paper.
Started with a weird itch and overpowering smell.

Selling PPE products is all good!
Just don’t care for any SnakeOil salesperson approach!

Lol yeah it’s all surplus junk. Stuff the militaries don’t want. It’s the TT-33s of preparedness. Scare everyone to buy more junk.

You are a bit late to the party, yet your types always seem to show up eventually. Read the first post again, We say that no one needs this stuff for fending off a dirty bomb. This is for novelty use only. These items are several decades old and are not for that.

Unfortunately the people who are doing most of the buying, are doing so for the other reason and it is affecting supply for those who think its cool to have a mask or wear it while working around dust ect.

If this still inspires fear, post your fears in off topics, not here.

We know that some of you get upset to see stores sell thing that you do not want to own. You feel that you need insert a bit of drama to make yourself feel better. Every single time you attempt to make a relevant point, you put our thread right to the top of this site and more people click and buy.

A good pair of NODS with provide exponential value over a CBRN suit given SHTF scenario. It's not like your suit is continually reusable or is somehow going to decontaminate itself ? If you have a suit you might as well buy a complete decon system as well (and you'll need a few dozen suits too and a basic decon system will run you $5000-$8000+) A mask, OK, you can reuse it and replace filters for issues like teargas or crowd dispersal, but cartridges only go so far too.

Save up and get NODS.
