Surgeon Long Action

I have handled a rifle built on a Surgeon action and thought it very slick. I own/have owned rifles built on PGW, Defiance, RPA, Barnard and Stiller as well as the Rem 700 accurized and out-of-the-box and would say of the customs' the smoothest feeling are Barnard, PGW, RPA, Defiance and Stiller with their being little to choose from amongst the first four. I had an issue with my Stiller that may have been a unique or' one-off' problem but I lost confidence from that point onwards with Stiller's products whereas I would have no hestitation in buying any one of the others again. My short examination of the Surgeon impressed me so, unless I heard much to dissade me, I'd consider them in any new build. So much depends, I guess, on your intended application and, as Rick of ATRS says, your stock choice etc.

Good luck whichever route you choose - I look forward to seeing a review of the finished product.

Hmmm seems like alot of people replied since I have last been on. Well we have decided (myself and brother, his gun im helping him find what he wants) to get ATRS to build us one of there actions and put it in a McMillan A5. dont worry I will post a full review when the rifle is complete
