Hi, is this ammo supply really drying up or what's the reason there seems to be so little supply of it right now?
I just bought the Norinco 1040 case from Al Flarhetys for 450$ online, then got an email stating that they won't ship it, it's in store only??
Anybody have a source?

Hi, thanks, that does seem like a decent deal for surplus. The only problem is that it is steel, not brass, and not allowed at my indoor range. Am not sure that Chinese surplus is actually Norinco, as it is stell, not that it matters to me who makes it.

For all you Edmonton area .308 guys, just picked up a crate of 1040 rounds of surplus from Wild West in the Mall, for 450$. Seems like a good deal and picked it up personally and saved the shipping.

Ordered 10boxes of surplus 308 from budget as soon as I read that he had it. Just got a email from Henry this morning that he is sold out and I missed it. Dang someone is sure quick out there.

I just picked up a box from Al Flaherty's but found the same ammo on Tradeex's website for $469 but with free shipping. I've found the steel cased Norc .308 surprisingly accurate in my M305.

Isnt all that stuff corrosive? As per another thread....

Another dealer was selling it as non-corrosive and it was found to be corrosive & now it is selling at many dealers for cheeper?

Is it indeed non-corrosive?

Can someone chime in that actually knows and just not speculators?

Shot some of the 80's surplus in a gravel pit at what I would guestimate to be 400 yards at a large 8" white rock. Took me 2 shots to get the sights set for the drop, but after that I was pounding that rock/the area around it with open sights.
I was thoroughly impressed.

Hmmm,

The Canada Ammo Norc .308 that came in 520 cases a few months back is definitely not corrosive in my experience and I have another friend of mine who regularly shoots what looks like the same ammo with positive results (I didn't see the original packaging for his ammo though). My friend also said that he used to shoot similar ammo back in the 90s that was wrapped in paper and shot well (perhaps a bit dirty but that's all). Since the current shipment of ammo comes in 520 tins, I just figured that it's essentially the same ammo that's just not been repackaged into boxes with English writing.

That's not 100% what you're asking, but hopefully someone else can close the loop and authoritatively answer your question.
