Surplus Moose Tag Draw Explanation

How do we get this changed? Who do we talk to? There must be a committee or department responsible for creating the system. Who are they? How can we change the rules? There must be a way. If everyone quits hunting, they'll just close the season because of a lack of interest. We need change as the status quo is unacceptable.

Total closure on calf hunting. Have a draw with pre purchased "lottery" tickets. If you don't get a tag you get a fee refund less a 2.00 admin fee. Allow the draw to occur in January of the hunt year to give hunters time to adapt to getting or not getting a tag. Establish a system that allows for hunters that go tag less for several years in a row to get a guaranteed tag. Hunters who have been successful in getting a tag are removed from the draw for a prescribed period of time to enable the previous suggestion. Allow party hunting to continue but eliminate group style applications. The two previous suggestions would ensure a tag or two virtually every year in any group of 7 or 8 hunters regardless. Include a free black bear tag with the moose tag to encourage going hunting regardless of not getting a moose tag and to reduce the bear population. That's just for starters. Of course about 95% of these suggestions would cause MNRF officials to run from the room covering their ears not to mention Orville Redenbacher (Wynne) would loose some much needed revenue for Toronto's buses and subways.

They need to have a guaranteed group size for adult tags that's no greater than 8 people, no individual tags at all, scrap the calf hunt altogether, and control the native hunting.

That's what I think.

I think the exact opposite; institute a point system, no party hunting, you shoot it, you tag it. I agree with no calves. With your system anybody that doesn't want or can't hunt in a large group gets screwed. With a point system, eventually everybody gets a chance.
