Surplus Rifles

EE is short for "Equipment Exchange", a Forum here on GunNutz. Keep scrolling down on the main page and you will find it.

It is like a classified section of a newspaper, where articles are offered for sale or wanted. You have to apply to the Moderators of the EE Forum for access, and they usually grant access within a day or so.

Another way to access the EE is go to the top of this page, look at the blue toolbar about one inch ( 25mm) down from the top. It starts out with "Forum" on the left side, and if you go to the right to the fourth link along the line a bit, you will see the link to the Equipment Exchange Forum.

Gun Shows will give you an idea of what is available, and prices asked. Gun Show prices tend to be more than prices you can pay on the EE, but if you take your time, look often, and research and know what you want, then there are sometimes good bargains out there. Many of the Sellers put a high initial price on a firearm, and expect to bargain a bit on the price. A REASONABLE offer may be accepted, but real LOW BALL offers are quickly rejected, so communication with a Seller or Buyer is important.

The Recreational Firearms Community is relatively small, and many of the people on here know each other. I would advise you to deal fairly with anyone here so that both the Seller and Buyer have a win-win situation that both can live with. Those people who take advantage of others are quickly discovered and the word gets around fast. Be Honest, keep your Word, and value your Reputation.

Welcome to the forum. You will see many contributors in the Milsurp sub-forum. You can learn a bunch from them. Also, many of this forum's sponsors sell milsurps and provide shipping to your door. Some of the vendors are listed here already, such as Trade Ex, SRFC, Marstar, Al Flaherty's...I have bought from and received prompt and great customer service. I have also bought from P & S Militaria: Jean Plamondon's located in Sherbrooke, QC and his selection and descriptions are spot on, he's been selling rifles and milsurps for 30 years. His service and responses good as well as prompt. Good luck!

You do see sporterized U.S. and Norwegian krags around but I would bet the Norwegians are somewhat easier to find. Finding one in complete military is a different story though.

I did own and shoot a Krag engineer's carbine and she had a very smooth action. I was expecting more of the usual kick that I get from my 8mm Mausers but not with the 6.5 Swedish. You can shoot it all day and your shoulder won't hurt.

Nabs, the secret to shooting the 8x57 is to use the 1904 load: 154 slug at 2880 (or less) from a 29-inch tube.

The 196 (kicker) load was the 1917 anti-TANK loading.

8x57 is actually NICE with the "right stuff"!

@OP:
You can get a lot of help on this forum, friend.

Norski Krags are to be found, but nearly all have been chopped. VERY smooth, though!

Prices for a chopped one tend to be quite fair, scarcity considered.

Welcome aboard!

I've always had a good experience dealing with Trade EX and if your around the Edmonton area Milarm usually has a decent selection most of the time and some times even P&D Enterprises carry's some milsurps mostly the common ones like the sks, 91/30, the usual assortment of red rifles/captures.
