Personally I think they are very interesting collector items and it is extremely rare these days, probably not since the late 80's when the last bunch of FAL from India, that a rather modern system that is directly flowing to the civilian world. Some of them might have seen op protective edge.
Look at some of the models available. these include the early models as well as some later models. IIRC IDF officially transitioned to X95 from TAR21 and M16 around 2011/2012, but they were smaller purchases before. So the oldest ones will be just around 12 years old. In the world of military, it is rarely seen ( actually never ) that a weapon got surplused in just 10 years. They must have brought out the calculator and were offered an irresistible deal. They usually got tossed into the warehouse for another 20 years before they do something about it. Tritium has a half life of 10 years, so that kinda spells out how old these oldest models are. Personally I will not butcher it into NR, but rather have it as a piece of history. You can also kinda ball park the round count on these guns. Even if for some reasons you have to deact it to make the government happy some years down the road, it is still an interesting piece to keep it the way it is.
So it looks to me the IDF is indeed buying M4 for the high ready brigades, but IDF since 2012 also wants to make sure the reservists ( there are 8 years of soldiers who were trained on X95) have the same weapons as their conscription periods. So they would have to buy more new X95 for the reserves to push out any old remaining M16 in the system.
