I'd like to buy a 22 or .17 survival rifle but I can't find anything.
I love the AR7 concept but heard bad things about accuracy and reliability.

Anything else on the market? On the 3 or 4 models I found, only the AR7 fits in the stock (then floats), is there other models ?

I remember seeing a ####load of AR7 in a gun shop in Vancouver but can't find it anymore, who got them ?

Thanks for input

the only bad problem with the ar7 is that it is a survival rifle and people use them all the time it should be for survival and yes there is action problems

A little off topic.... whats so compact about them. short of them being able to take down, the case for them is bulky.... whats the real benefit of having this over another 22 cal... unless you scrap the box and throw these pieces in your backpack?

I love the M6 scouts and you get a 410 and a 22 or 22hornet. you would have to find one used though as they don't make them anymore:( they take down with the pull of a pin and the ammo stores in the top of the stock.

i have an ar7 i might sell. 200 in used condition. no real reason to sell it and would be hard to replace.

Do you ever keep cartridges in the magazines (not "clips"..:p), when you hike about with it? :)

About 20 seconds to assemble well, but loading those mags takes extra time...;)

What about a rossi youth break action .22? I've never had them, but if you're concerned about reliability, it should be no issue. And break-actions come apart nicely to stuff in a backpack.

How about one of those Chipmunk youth rifles? They look like they are compact and light weight.

The ar7's I have shot seem to be plenty accurate for survival, but the reliability seems pretty hit or miss and they dont seem to be made to last for thousands and thousands of rounds. Other that, when they work reliably they are quite fun to shoot.
