Survival Seed Kit for the Zombie Apocalypse!

In a survival situation, labels matter! No GMO for me, I'd rather starve to death and to consume that wrongly advertised, GMO ridden thing!

Surley in a actual scenario when you will be using these things a fast easy growing gmo food source would be ideal rather plants that would required actual attention.

I would rather have a gmo version of a hardy naturaly fast growing weed like edible plant.

This is probably a poor place for a gmo discussion, however...

The problem is with gmo that have pesticide producing genes. No thanks. Also, there are concerns about biodiversity, and pest resistance. If something evolves to attack the gmo plant, and everyone is using that gmo strain, we could be in for a food shortage problem.
Anyway, given what monsanto does to farmers (worldwide) who don't want their seed/pesticide, I'll avoid gmo whenever possible.

Haha, I have the worst green thumb ever, I've even killed two cacti (apparently I over-watered them!). Might buy one bag just for kicks and stuff with my emergency food kit (you never know!). My only concern is if the zombie apocalypse coincides with nuclear war, will it be safe to eat anything grown from radioactive soil? :p

Fall out affects the top three inches of soil. Remove it and carry on.

Anything that evolves to kill a gmo plant will have a hayday with your non gmo stuff first simply beacaasue it is far weaker and cannot defend itself as well as a gmoplant . anyway sorry kate. if they left the non gmo sign of the package i dont think many would notice. many dumping on monsanto should also note the good work they have done as well making oranges more resistent to frost , making rice that produces vitamin a naturally, corn that is stronger against mould these things are all done through science and technology years and years of research and they have no wierd side effects either ....now cheezewiz well thats a different story still safe to eat but i wont touch it.

And yeah i do find the greentards screamthe loudest about promoting science but when science proves their world view thought or opinion to be wrong they set their hair onfire blame bush and harper and run screaming into the river of denial they claim its made up its fake its false blah blah blah its only real if it agress with their marxist world view.

Again my appologies katei will shut up now. i bet this product is great and i encourage everyone to buy it . i will at somepoint

This is a mostly good conversation, getting both sides of the argument, I will likely buy some of both to hedge my bets!!
Is there a reason why they are not vacuum sealed? Wouldn't it make them last even longer? Or does vacuum sealing hurt them?

QUESTION:

Isn't one of the main traits of GMO crops that you can't save the seed and replant? Aside from going to jail for copyright infringement, the seeds simply won't grow for more than a couple generations. Thus the appeal of non GMO seeds for survival situations.

That is where Monsanto comes in the EVIL crooks. Some of there products do not produce viable seed. So they sell it to un-knowing people in say Africa and then they are left with nothing but to buy more seed. As I said in previous post GMO products and Monsanto are two VERY different things but most people just group them together and cry EVIL

Not very cool bud Kate is awesome she tries her best to bring us interesting items and is very pleasant and helpful if you actually call her

If people want to shop around and starve out the little guy who actually gives a s### they know how to work Google too

+1 d1ck move

It is not a product of being a gmo that means the seed won't reproduce, it is a function of being a hybrid. Case in point: GMO soybeans. You can grow them and replant them year after year after year after... You get the point. Hybrid non gmo corn would not turn out great.

Monsanto is not evil. I'd really recommend staying away from naturalnews and info wars. Your Africa example is bravo sierra.

I can see as a farmer and seed grower, there is some serious education needed among the general public.

Your misinformation disgusts me.

I for one would prefer a GMO seed bank. I grow food for a living, fyi.

I for one will ONLY eat GMO foods...

That's my secret to being over 6 feet tall by the time I was 14! Also caveman ate all natural and all organic and they thew rocks at their shadows and died at age 35...

Gotcha beat... I was 5'11" with size 14 kicks.... in grade 6. Grew up on an organic "hippy" farm.
Sorry Kate, couldn't resist. And I will be ordering from you.
THANK YOU! for the CHOICE

Cheers

Ummmmmm Im pro GMO. Maybe you didnt get that. Monsanto is bad as they are trying to control the food market. Education I have in the form of agronomy and global sustainability studies at a college level. As well as commercial farming runs in the family.

Anyway this is about a great product supplied by a great company. And it all got derailed by a F$%*ing idiot trying to preach for no apparent reason.

Make a different post about GMO'
s its a fun topic to debate

Sooooo, once you crack the main bag, are there separate inside bags that retain the shelf life of seeds you don't use? Or do you need To plant all the seeds? Over how long, 2-3 seasons? Just curious, not a gardener at all. I'm thinking of building a vertical garden this summer and give it a try. With the price of veggies I guess I will take a stab at it.
