Surviving Canadian Centurion Tanks?

Looks Like more then I thought survived.

Did Canada have a policy of making sure the tanks cant run anymore when out on display? I was watching a Youtube channel where the guy has a British Centurion that was on as a gate guard for a while. The Army drove it onto the pad, drained the oil and revved it until it failed so it could not be driven again.

Crown Surplus in Calgary had one but it got sold to the states.

A museum in Langley has or had one.

Hard to believe that Canada originally bought 374 of them.
i recall that crown sutplus had two of them, reportedly used in d day. when i was a student, they let me climb on the tanks and take a couple of pics of them. apparently, they were sold to a buyer in the states for relatively cheap and that buyer turned around and sold them for 1.2 mill or something. that was a great surplus store back in the day. they had a bunch of enfields that were used in filming legends of the fall back in the early 90s. recall picking up one where a solder had carved on the stock all the places/battles he had been in while in ww1. still kicking myself for not buying it. price was around 100 at the time. nice piece of history

The Centurion Bridge Layer in Gagetown was another "ran when parked". Was literally driven onto the pad it sits on now, which wasn't that long ago (2010ish) if I recall correctly.

Considering that the Centurion came out in 1945 and D Day was in 1944 I find it doubtful that they were used in that operation.

Crown Surplus was indeed an interesting store though, lots of good stuff!

ok, just going on what the counter guy told me. thanks for the clarification.

There used to be one at the Camp Aldershot main gate (Kentville, NS) but they've revamped the gate shack area and I don't think the Chieftain is on display there any more.

I remember seeing logging yarders that were built on tank chassis in chilliwack bc years ago
The Madill 071 spar yarder was built in Nanaimo on Sherman family undercarriages - Grizzlys and ARVs in particular. The other category of M4 Sherman donors are tracked crawlers with hydraulic rock drills, often labelled Finning and Morwear. Some of them got tagged as M32 for the sake of needing a name.
