Susan Nattrass Headed To Pan Am Games

Bill I have a friend with an MT-6 he has had for years but my other buddy had an MX8 that was stamped and labelled MX8 on the receiver and had an Olympics emblem countersunk into the wood on the bottom of the pistol grip. It also had that unique looking rib with multiple small angled posts that were seen on Perazzi's way before that style of rib became more and more prevalent such as in todays guns. The MT-6 was nowhere near the gun the MX8 was in my opinion.

MT-6 and MX-8 aren't the same action.

Lock up is different, mt had no drop out trigger, had coil springs, plus a couple other differences.

MX8 is the superior action by far, but the MT6 is still very serviceable. I have its trap single cousin the TM-1.

MT-6 came with both the striped and plain sided receiver and actually had approx. four generations of variants.

The one a friend has is a striped version and though I do not know all it's history I know he is the third owner for sure and has been for over a quarter century. The gun is in tough shape. It has seen much better days. It's as loose as a goose to put it bluntly and someone at some point had it ported with a pattern that looks like Magna-port work from back in the 80's. It has 29.5" barrels with chokes that look for all the world like the old original style winchokes but are Perazzi chokes according to my friend. The markings on them are definitely not Winchester but it even utilizes the same style metal hooked choke wrench that resembled a can opener somewhat. All I know is even though I seemed to be able to shoot it very well on the few occasions I tried it out it kicked lke a mule on steroids!! I also think the TM 1 is a far superior gun to the MT6.

Probably used the wrong terminology. Maybe variation would have been a better word.
Yes, I do know there are several differences between the two, and have shot both (as well as the TM1 ), but not extensively.

Perazzi in the early years seemd to introduce new model guns concurrent with the Olympics MX8 - Mexico, MT6 - Montreal.

don't forget MX2000

They will be doing selection qualifications for Canada's women's Trap position for Rio 2016. So Stay Tuned.. Susan and all the girls will have a chance at it. But it's all thanks to Amanda Chodoba for winning the Gold at Pan Am :)

at the chance to stay, seat and chat with Susan for the last few days and wow ... at her level she is more willing to share, like most of the good people i met there in shooting sports ...

The "Doc's" god-hearted nature hasn't changed a bit since I first met her in 1975. She was working on a Kinesiology degree at McMaster at the time and often frequented the
Hamilton Gun Club. She was shooting an MX-8 back then too ! She was always very aproachable ( and a " real looker" back in the day too ! )
