Play stupid games, win stupid prizes....
I'm kind of disappointed at some of the posts I'm seeing in this thread. Have you guys never noticed how these stories have a high level of "Justice was done" feel good detail, but they almost never have any specific physical evidence?
If you desire specific evidence there's always the recent lion scat.
Tears are wasted on criminals.
I think you're missing the point.
It's common practice for protected wildlife areas to have what amounts to shoot on sight policies. Then they leave them to be scavenged by the lions and then make up a story for media outlets to triumphantly parade around.
Kruger Park does not have a shoot on sight policy.
If anyone dies by gunfire it's because the poachers refused to surrender. It's a clear choice.
If a poacher is shot on the property they aren't calling in the crack investigatory team, promise.
Unless you're buying the "He was out poaching rhinos, got trampled to death by elephants and his body eaten by lions. We can tell all of this happened because we found a skull and some pants." story.

So what you are saying is, "This is Fake News''?

The Chinese and Chinese buyers are behind every tiger ##### , rhino horn , elephant tusk and bear gallbladder taken . Those animals are not shot and snared for bush meat by starving people . Look at any one of a thousand vids and not one pound of meat is missing from the carcass . The Chinese don't trust or believe in western medicine so they stay with ancient herbology and other nonsense so although ivory is in high demand for decorative carvings the rest from deer antlers to moose horn , tiger ##### , rhino horn and bear gallbladder are used for ###ual vitality and that includes everyone in the government so nothing is ever done about the slaughter . The Chinese philosophy is , get everything you can get , now .
I don't doubt that he was out poaching and that his corpse was eaten by lions. The "Bambi would be proud" story that fills the middle makes me somewhat skeptical. Maybe others haven't noticed how much more common these stories have become post-Cecil the Lion.
Makes sense as there are three sides to every story....
The alleged poachers side, the elephant and the lions and rhinos story and somewhere down the middle...
But a poacher removed from this earth is worth every penny.

I really hate these conversations because it can sound like I'm trying to defend the actions of poachers, and I'm really not but I do find we try to apply our Western morality to a culture where our moral standards need not apply. People seem to forget we're only 100 years from the Migratory Bird Act. Ultimately these poachers are generally poor people, doing it try to better their positions. I'm not condoning their behaviour by any stretch, but the African wildlife situation is a very nuanced one and there are much better solutions to the poaching problem than killing off the poachers.
You used the word 'nuanced'. You must be a liberal.
