Anyone here familiar with SVI Guns (Strayer-Voigt)/Infinity Arms? I have been considering getting one for awhile now. I'm a fan of their 'Tiki' compact 1911. (I saw it in a movie and just really liked it)

Here's a pic;

I checked their web site recently. They are obviously high end, very pricey but also appear to be high quality. Their 1911s are highly customizable. They have an online builder you can use (you have to sign up, it's quick and easy, I just used a back up email. Haven't received a single message or any related spam) It was actually pretty cool going through all the options, but I didn't go to the final step and get a visual rendering

Anyway, I've read some online reviews and checked out some videos but I'd like to know if anyone here owns one or knows anyone who does. Do you have any feedback or info to offer? Also, have you (or they) ordered direct from SVI/Infinity? What was the experience like? Again, any feedback or info?

Here's some more pics;

Thanks

If you don't mind the cost and the wait time, they are top notch custom guns.

Most of the feedback I have read has been on their competition guns which many think are the gold standard. In terms of the other styles (classic, commander, carry), I don't know if they are better than any other $4K-$5K custom 1911, but you are also paying for a unique aesthetic. If you like that design, you might not be satisfied with anything else.

Thanks for the reply. I've done some reading on them myself, and now I was hoping to get some feedback from anyone with first-hand experience. I take it you don't own one... but, now I'm curious, do you have any high-end/custom 1911s? Anything about them you'd care to share? (pics... always cool)

Thanks again

BL, PM me when you're in Mtl next and we'll go shoot an SVI in .40 if you like. It's not a 1911, but you'll get an idea of the quality involved in their build.

SVI are very high end indeed.
I shoot an STI because i cannot afford SV, i have tried a few SV in the past and they come out very well tuned out the door.
STI you gotta spend 1000-1500$ to make them real sweet.
I'm 3000$+ in my STI single stack, an SV would be 2000-3000$ more than that.
It doesnt actually shoot for 3000$ better so there is no magic to be expected out of them, you get a custom crafted jewel that happens to shoot bullets.
In the end, they are on my sports shooting bucket list.

LB, Nighthawk Custom, Ed Brown, Wilson Combat are indeed nice guns but they don't even compare to SVI. The CRAFM is the Canadian distributer. You can contact them but expect at least 18 months for delivery.

Sorry to say this but the DVC aint all that ready out of the box.
The last details are not that hard to acheive, but for one there are reports on american forums that some came out with a 3+# trigger, and the gun has a functionnal grip safety, thats not acceptable for a so called race gun, it should be blended like SVI do.
If i was going in standard, i'd probably end up with a DVC anyways, and bring it to a smith for a final tune.

As a side note my trojan came out of the box 2015 brand new with an effed up barrel feed ramp cut.
Non fixable. Threw the barrel out with not even 300 rounds thru and purchased a new barrel. You wouldnt see that comming from SV. I can only imagine the frustration if this hapenned with a DVC, i hope they paid attention to the barrel fitting for these.

And everything else ;)

Looking forward to seeing one in person at a match soon.
Proof will be in 40 degree heat on a 12-14 stage, one day Level III.....

I've shot many Infinity's. They are hands down the best 1911/2011's you can buy. I can't afford one so I shoot an STI USPSA. Would I buy an SV for novelty, only if I have lots of extra money. The lead time for these are well over a year. When you do get your price quote back, it will be up there and in US funds. You will have to put a deposit in with Frank at CRAFM as he is the exclusive importer in Canada for SV. Make sure that the barrel length you have in your gunbuilder build is legal in Canada.

Great guns but only if you can justify the price. The most basic 1911 starts at 5k USD. I put together a 1911 that came in at 7200 USD, with todays exchange rate, waaaay out of my budget.
