Def chopped. I asked Armand on the phone and he told me that they were only pinned not chopped. So we'll see.

Feel free to set aside just one of these until June 2014, at which point I will be able to legally apply for my PAL and will scoop one of these up the second I get the chance. Got a chance to shoot one of these a couple months back, and have wanted one ever since :)
Hopefully these will still be around in gun stores by then...

There will still be lots around I'm sure.
They are from the 40s and were are just
getting them in 2011 so I wouldn't worry.
You may pay a little more but that's life.

Just saw this thread. I would add another to my collection, but not if they have the chopped mag ala the Westrifle import. As far as I am concerned, the chopped mag guns are fit only for blasters to be abused or sporterized or stripped for parts.

As for the fellow posting about Tula having better stocks - none of these refurbs have their original stocks so the manufacturer is unimportant - An Izhevsk or Kovrov is just as likely to have a Tula made stock as a Tula is.

Now for the bolt. I've seen several of the silver bolt guns from the westrifle batch now. All the silver bolt versions had stamped numbers but in a modern font. I don't want to speculate who did what and when, but my opinion is those bolts were re-stamped AFTER the last official arsenal refurb and the blueing was likely chemically removed.

I'd be interested to hear if the new batch's mags are matched or completely mismatched. the last tiem we had an import with matching mags was the Tradex import out of Germany a few years ago when Tradex was only a distributor. The mags were electro-pencilled matching, not stamped.

Actually, the price seems to be a hundred bucks lower than it was last summer. I'm pretty sure these will be around for a while yet.

It would be nice to see some shiny silver bolts and un-butchered mags from the collectors point of view. If you're planning on any hunting with your SVT40, hang onto the 5 round mag. The full size mag catches on everything.

Does that mean he has a bunch of chopped 5-rounders for sale? Its also interesting that we can buy newly manufactured SVT adjustment tools, but no new production mags, slings, or bayos.

Got one in the mail already :D
I'll post back on here with some pics if I can find the time and if anyone is interested.
I was also told over the phone that the mags were original 10 round pinned to 5.
Now if I could just find a repro gas tool for a sane price all will be well.
40 dorra after shipping too much for a chunk of steel with holes in it :(

How on earth did Armand (?) get unchopped mags separately to stick in these rifles???

If the mags are unchopped and the guns are only $299 that's a steal. I may have to order another - someone hurry and post a pic to verify.

I've heard that the newest shipment of svts are
Chopped mags, but armand has replaced them
With full length mags. Which really makes
Him top notch in my books. He heard people
#####ing so he fixed it.
If this were the case it would seem to be in his interest to publicise it. He could probably just reveal his cache of unchopped mags (sans rifles) and make a boatload of cash off of them.
There are other dealers that have confirmed their latest offerings at the same price are pinned, unchopped mags, so I'm assuming the same is true for Badger. In which case, it is a very good deal from anyone.

I ordered one yesterday and spoke with them. The mags are uncut. I'm getting the 8 hole one and will post pics too when it arrives.
