I can't get my svt-40 to run properly using prc ammo . no amount of gas ajustment or anything. Anyone have the same problems ? Is this ammo alot differant than european stuff ?

There is obviously nothing wrong with your rifle as S&B works fine. Don't use the Chinese ammo.

seems like a common complaint. SVT's are a little finicky when it comes to ammo and gas settings. I have heard they run great with other milsurp ammo's but not prc. Buy a mosin nagant to use up all your surplus prc ammo. Buy the good stuff (read Russian) for your svt40 needs.

I'd buy another box of Privi, and try it over a chronograph. Then I'd try the surplus over a chronograph. It's not mentioned, but did you use hunting ammo, then try surplus, then tinker with gas settings, have no luck with surplus, and then try hunting ammo again?? Because I'd do that first. Perhaps the holes aren't lined up just right, or your rifle has cosmoline/too much oil in important areas and the cold is affecting the rifle.

Exactly

I have fired this rifle about 2000 times . cleaned each outing . cosmo is long gone . it is prob with this ammo . it is all marked 71 67 . Some of the store bought self ammo is hard to find in my area to test more . I do have a Nagant , however i have been fixated on this rifle latley .
What sucks is i bought 2100 rounds of this stuff of a member here last october . At least it was real cheap.

i have the same problem, I bought a svt/prc ammo combo from tradex and I couldn't even get my gun to cycle or fire. I had to go out and get a second case of Russian stuff and now its flawless, my complaint fell on deaf ears at tradex I hope he not not selling prc ammo and svt combos anymore cause Im sure he knows its an issue

Sounds like you have your bases covered then. I've just recently bought a SVT-40, and a crate of prc ammo, so I hope my story isn't going to be a repeat of yours.

Yep still selling the combo. I am a big fan of tradex however I am surprised they still sell this combo as so many people have had problems with this ammo and gun combo. I just received a svt 40 for Christmas so it looks like I will be purchasing a crate of Russian and using the prc stuff in my mosin.

I was going to order that PRC ammo from tradex good price with free shipping .
Glad I saw this thread before I did . They also have Bulgarian for $20 more than the PRC with free shipping !
But with SFRC's sale & 10% off boxing promo they have the cheapest delivered price for the next few days .

I had a couple boxes of "non corrosive" Chinese from a gun show.

Did not cycle with my svt's on any gas settings and was the dirtiest smelliest ammo I have ever fired to date. Not only did I have faliure to cycle or eject, but sometimes the action wouldn't even open. The thin casings molded to the fluted chamber creating excess friction.

The svts cycled on any other ammo. Russian surplus, Bulgarian, mfs, wolf, and lve. No issues at all.
