SVT-40 Damaged Forend

Just got an SVT-40 in the mail.
The stock has a fairly large crack on the right side forend. It's deep and goes all the way through to the inside where the barrel rests.

Wondering if it's safe to shoot?
No apparent attempt at a previous repair from what I can tell. So how bad would you consider the crack? Is it fixable or should I return her?

Return it, if they are standup should be no problem.

I am pretty sure that came from Wolverine judging by the e-mails that have come in over the weekend.
No worries, it will be dealt with as we always do and a replacement will be sent out.
Public apologies to OP for having to deal with this.
Regards
Guy
No worrys just an inconvenience.. they will do right I'm sure

Don't worry. I only sell locally and not online.

Everyone doesn't like that I didn't advertise the gun with a shot out barrel but the f@#$er online dealer who I bought it from didn't either and that's what my point is about buying a surplus rifle online. Always be able to visually look at the gun before you buy it. At that point, its only your own fault if you end up with a ####ty gun.

The guy who came and bought it visually looked at it, looked at the bore, and I even took him to the range so he could test fire it. He knows where I live if he wants to come punch me in the head for selling him a gun with a shot out barrel but by now, hes put thousands of rounds though it.

If you told him about the barrel and gave him a deal.. then it's on him

My replacement rifle is in the mail.

Thanks to Guy @ Wolverine for getting it out before the holiday weekend.

No mail on Labour Day :( the anguish of waiting...I think it should count as an essential service when the postal system has my firearm :D

No, I had to return the rifle to get the replacement. Other than the stock the rifle was in great shape, it would have been a fantastic parts kit if I got to keep it.

The new rifle showed up some time ago but I had to figure out how to adjust the gas regulator without the tool to get her functioning right.

I got some funny looks when I went to the Shopper's Drug Mart to pick up my package and wasn't sure why until I got home and noticed this

Here's what it looked like inside the box

And with the wrapping removed

Some arsenal repairs on the stock

And some crappy shots of the bore taken on my phone
