Believe me, I tried! I didn't work, so I bought a 41 Tula with no scope rails. I consider it a recent Finnish capture!

Just for giggles, a bit from my novel "The Little Red Hawk". Story takes place in Bergen, Norway in 986; retired wizard Sidney the Profound is getting into the shipping business, having learned the secrets of navigation on the open Ocean from Icelander Bjarni Herjolfsson while they were lost at sea the previous year (and discovered the New World, incidentally: "Opdaegelsfard: A Voyage of Discovery", which is the first Sidney book). Sidney is helping his old (900 years old) friend Aimo, an impecunious Finn wizard (from Tikkakoski, no less!) living in Norway, to set up manufacture of a new kind of booze that actually burns: they are calling it 'brandy'; you might have heard of it. Sidney's girl, a Pict from Inverness, has been making and selling needed medicine in Bergen and wants to give the business to Aimo because he is a nice guy although he has almost nothing: spends all his money helping people. Aimo does not want to take the gift, even though he needs it. So here is an extract from the conversation, Sidney speaking first:

“I think you have to, Aimo. Remember two important points.”

“And they are?”

“Number One: she’s a redhead.”

“Uh-huh. And Number Two?”

“She’s a Pict, Aimo. The Romans were afraid of her people.”

“Aaah, the Romans were wusses, anyway, Sid. They never came up against the Finns. Only the Finns can rule the Finns: nobody else ever lives long enough. But the Picts did do a helluvva job, I will say that. Had the Romans pissing down their legs behind that big Wall for three hundred years."

So there you have it. Some folks don't NEED SVTs if they get mad enough!

That sounds like a good story! I am sure the Picts were mad enough. It would be interesting mash-up of history, if the Picts were armed with SVT-40s. Where is my time machine?!
