Hey Guys,

I have this SVT-40 that I just love to shoot, however, the gas adjustment dial/screw thingy is loose, as in, I can easily change it with my fingers, no tool required. As such, after almost every shot, the darn thing moves which give me very unreliable feeding.

How can I make it so it does not move as easy?

Bonus tips if you can explain what the 1.2, 1.3, 1.5, 1.7 settings mean, and how that affects the operation.

Thanks!

If you remove the heat shield above the gas cylinder you will see where the cylinder can be tightened with a wrench. When this is tightened the adjuster won't move. Doesn't have to be too tight. The numbers refer to the actual size of the gas port 1.1 being the smallest and 1.7 the largest.

I was always just finger tightening that sucker after I cleaned it. I will torque it a bit more see if that works, makes sense though.

Thanks!

If that doesn't work then there's definitely something wrong. Hopefully it works. Damn it's been some months since mines been out. Maybe next week.

I just tightened it and that must be it. Now I need a tool to turn it cause my fingers sure cant. But, it turns pretty easy with the tool, so it's not too tight.

Thanks guys!
