svt 40 gas setting

what gas setting would you guys recomend for a svt40 using the latest russian ammo any ideas also will be shooting czehk silvertip to thanks

Only way to find out is by trying. Try to get the lowest setting whioe still maintaining reliability. Most likely 1.3 or 1.5

I needed 1.5 I think to have it cycle properly in the cold.

Just start at the lowest setting and bring a 2x4 mallet, and adjust accordingly. If you only use one type of ammo, it should be easy. As suggested, the only difference would be temperature adjustments after that.

I settled with 1.3. I'm trying for accuracy and can't keep changing the parameters. I'm shooting MFS Russian non-corr 185g.

i use 1,3 on mine its good for shooting Czech and Russian surplus ammo

Aye.
Start at 1.2 and move up until it cycles properly.
The lowest setting and proper cycling is what you're aiming for.
Mine works perfect on 1.2 with 147 Gr Soviet Ball believe it or not.
It seems the setting varies drasticaly from rifle to rifle and user to user and depending on the temperature as you can see from the replies.
The only real advice I can give is make sure that the line is ACTUALY lined up with the dot on the regulator. I find people leave it partialy aligned and then move up to higher settings thinking that not enough gas is getting through on that setting.
