Hey folks!

I recently picked up an SVT-40, and I'm having troubles getting it to cycle. Even though I've cleaned the gas system and have the regulator set to 2 (no not 1.2, 2.0), it doesn't quite have enough jam. I've narrowed down the problem to an extremely worn and pitted gas cylinder and piston. Is there anywhere I can purchase a Replacement set, either new or used?

Saw a nice stainless set made by a guy in the U.S. (http://www.ppsh41.com/SVTitems.html), But I doubt if we could get them up here.

Yep, it's good and tight.

Edit: The spring-loaded clip that holds the cleaning rod is missing from the muzzle device on this one. Would that affect anything, as there's an open hole from the device into the cleaning rod holder.

Numrich should have spare parts. I don't think the cleaning rod retainer would matter.

I don't like the sounds of "gas cylinder, used, pitted"... sounds like I'd be buying what I've already got.

I beleive there are Stainless gas tubes available for them.

Yep, see the link in the fist post. This is the only set I found for under $100, and I bet he doesn't have an ITAR export permit.

I had a similar problem with mine . Turned out the gas shutoff block was loose and would move when being fired just enough to restrict the gas flowing up from the barrel. I removed the block and put a couple of dimples in it too tighten it up. Work slick now.

Cheers
Jeff

I imagine I could isolate a problem like that if I swap the gas parts over from the SVT of mine that works over to the one that doesn't. If it works, then it's the gas parts. If not, then I have deeper issues, like the problem you describe.
