So I know there are a few SVT 40 gurus here...

Got this on trade today... So witch model is this ? why is my muzzle break only 2 holes ?

I also want to try it out this weekend with PRIVI ammo... What should I put my gas selector on ?

And what should I ask for it on EE if I dont like it...

Its a 1942, 2 mags, small stock repair and like most trigger and bolt are electropend...

thanks

Now this is a rifle that if there was a nice after market stock I could see in the future for my safe. Sort of like that nice wood 1 for the SkS.
DILLIGAF please post back after going to the range and try to explain to us non-owners how long and hard the dis-assembely is for this bad boy.

dis-assembely is a peice of cake on this riffle... I just cleaned it... found the YouTube video and did the step by step...

It's not any harder than the SKS....

will hit the Range in the AM... Post groups and Clean it again... lol...

The Dust cover is the coolest part .... as for the notch rails I couldn't care less.... if it shoots anything like an SKS I wont be spending money on a scope for a riffle thats just for plinking...

Forget the rails. They shoot great without them. I popped a whitetail deer at 175 paces, it was a heart shot. PRVI is great ammunition at a low price.

That is a navy stock, configured as an AVT. Fairly rare. Nice rifle!

BTW, you'll love that 4 hole brake when it comes time to clean it - the 6 hole is a PITA.

There are two variations in the muzzle brake design: the first had six slim baffles replaced in later production by a unit having only two large baffles.
The fully automatic version (AVT40) is owtwardly identical to the semiauto (SVT40) from wich it was derived, except for alteration to the stock surrounding the safety and the safety catch to permit the addition of an automatic fire setting. Apparently only a few rifles were ever converted.
The Navy stocks are identifiable, if I'm not mistaken, by the addition of slots to permit "dog collar" Moisin Nagant style slings.

Rare indeed and in nice condition too.

Is that a repair on the stock, or a factory splice?

Nice rifle, nice stock.
It is later model rifle, stock from earlier model I'd guess 1940. Most of this rifles were put together to preform not have matching everything. I would guess 2 or 3 rifles was used to put it together. As long as it operates you will be happy. Rails are not necessity, you can put Mosin scope on those easily if you want to.
Hope you enjoy it!!

Well Here is my 100Y group on surplus ammo,,,

This thing is super fun but I have a Savage 10 FCP-K and this would fund a harris bipod

So as soon as the LGR is out this thing will be up for sale...
