After about 400-450 rounds now . the feeding system is starting to act up . rifle is cleaned very well after use. I'm fairly certain I'm having magazine problems. the rounds are catching before the feed ramp . tried bending up slightly the lips on the mag , No luck! . I ordered a new mag (aftermarket )from a vendor on here . Are these any good ?. my current mag is an SVT-38 with 3 differant numbers on it with lines crossed out on 2 of them .

Your aftermarket mag may need somes fitting since SVT vary from one to another. Your current mag is clean? Somes pics maybe?

Current mag was not clean . dust inside . surface rust on sring , bad rivet job only holds 4 rounds , minor pitting on the top of mag where bullet travels to the chamber , which I dremel and buff out.

Funny i posted almost the exact same thread a few weeks back. Sounds like exactly the same problem but i didnt even fire mine. Came straight from the dealer and the rounds would jam just below the chamber opening. The mag seemed to be in good condition but i sent it back and the dealers going to send me a different one to see if it changes anything. Hopefully a different mag will solve the problem.

As for the aftermarket mags, I bought one to replace a chopped one that didn't work anyway. Took about 40 minutes of hand fitting with a file, now fits nice and tight and works perfectly.

I got three aftermarket mags in the mail today . I take it you filed down the tabs on the back of the mag .

I just got one of those aftermarket mags too.I assume that the top of those tabs need to be lowered by filing them down. I guess for a proper fit something should be added to the bottom ,mig weld and grind the lower tab to position the tab better

I had to mig weld and machine the front of my mag in a semi circle but not too high or the bolt will catch on it. The semi circle is to catch the bullet and aim it towards the chamber. If you cant get it going I would be interested in buying it from you.

I bought 3 after market mags from Corwin arms . I had to remove material from the top of mag catch and mig weld material below catch and file to fit (all 3) . also 1 mag I had to do same to front of one of the lip. . Keep in mind folks when they suggest a bit of "fitting" . it is quite a bit of work.
