SVT-40 Mags from Westrifle

However that has nothing to do with the OP's thread.

Of course it does, it shows that they are only guaranteed to fit the rifle with the same serial number. In other words they may need alteration, but there again they may not :)

Not sure where you got that idea. But it's completely wrong. Nearly all svt40s come with mismatched mags, and they all work fine. All it shows is the rifle, or rifles the mag has been issued with.

The op is asking about reproduction mags that westrifle sells and what experience those that own them have had. Which is a different topic all together.

No they don't all work fine, I had to try three before I found one that fitted when I bought my SVT 40 from CT

It's the same topic because the tolerances vary between rifles and magazines.

You are talking about original mags. He is talking about new mags built to fit the svt40. Very different things. Aftermarket vs original. Apples and oranges.

To the OP, I don't have any experience with the new mags, and have had no problems with any of my original mags in any of my svt40s. My suggestion, given my experience with other "new" mags built for old milsurps is to generally avoid them and find good milsurp mags where available.

With that, I'm out.

Has anyone bought the repo mags Westrifle have in stock? Just wondering how well they fit or if you need to tinker with them?

I will answer the original question.

I have one of the repo mags from Westrifle and they work great but may require a bit of filing and fitting to clip in. Once I had it clipping in and out freely, it operated flawlessly.

They fit and work well enough(90% reliable in mine, the original being 97% reliable)but they sit a but low and there's no easy fix for that, the lugs on the back need to be lowered

I'm with fiddler. I bought one and needed to file it a little. Once it fit in and Locked I left it in place. It works great, much better than the chopped piece of junk that came with the gun.
