Hi.. I tried this in the optics section and got no response. Was wondering if I purchased and svt-40 if it would be difficult or expensive to outfit it with a ww2 scope to make it a sniper svt-40 rifle. From the pictures it seems to attach to the back of the receiver hopefully that would make it possible to clean it without having to "zero" the rifle every time. Don't want to bubba a piece of history but my eyes aren't as sharp as they once were.. so I need a scope.

You will find in the milsurp section. Scoping a SVT is not cheap if you dont want to bubba the rifle. In a perfect world you will need -1 SVT with side grooves and sniper notch at the rear $400
-2 a repro scope mount $150 and up
-3 repro scope approx $200 or ww2 scope at $450-$500
You can look the links below, hope that will help:)

Thank you svt1940. Doesn't seem to be any easier than the Mosin Nagant to scope up.
Well, you can buy the proper rifle and parts so scoping is not hard, in the way that you dont have to modify anything, the main drawback is the cost. There was an aftermarket mount that slide on the side groove and accepting weaver ring but that mount is not available anymore. I did re-sniperize a SVT and i cant wait to shoot it, was expensive project but i'm a SVT fan and cost didnt matter for me even if will not be a target grade sniper rifle,i'm not a target grade shooter neither:p
