I am looking to put a repro scope mount on my SVT-40 but I don't want to modify any original parts. Does anyone know if the "notch" in the receiver is in the receiver cover or actually in the receiver? And if it is the receiver cover is there anywhere I can buy a spare to ruin and keep the original original?
 
There are plans in the works to develop a better repro mount that does not need a notch. Jean from P&S was saying he was going to start stocking them I believe, although I don't want to put words in his mouth.
 
Thanks for the info, I will wait for the better or mount or just live without. I don't need the scope so bad I'm willing to ruin the authenticity of this rifle.
