wow. buy now price for mount + scope = $535 plus tax and shipping.

at that price you can buy two rifles!

we need someone to make repro scope mounts for these things!

They are repro on the market but they appear to be cast, not machined. I dont know for sure were those repro mount are made but would be great to have nice machined ones like the PU scope and mount made in ukraine or if someone make them in russia.

$535 is a FANTASTIC price if they are original. Anyone who thinks that is too much shouldn't be in the market for original sniper stuff IMHO.

That price would definitely be for the repro stuff on ebay. There's Chinese and Ukraine sets.

The Sarco mounts are cast and the cross pins give way early on...

If a repro mount is cast with any sort of decent steel then it should last.

I started my milsurp collection with a few SKS's, and added a "Choate" scope mount to one. The mount is also cast, and not machined - but it's very tough.

I agree with the above regarding the price of an original unit. At $535 it would be on the cheaper side. However, all I'm saying is that it is pretty pricey regardless!

I know of a very qualified machine shop around the corner from my house. I wonder if i could approach them with a cast version of the original and have them copy the design out of a single machined piece.

Numrich has original scopes

Of course getting it across the border is another story:runaway:

I finally make the move today and i bought a SVT ex-sniper with the notched receiver, got it from Westrifle and its already in the mail:) They maybe not takc driver but i will put it back on sniper configuration. I will shop for a mount and a scope after. I wonder if the mount from Numrich are good? The ones from Sarco are supposedly weak on the looking pin. I bet original mount are next to impossible to find now and they must be very pricely.....

We have repro scopes that will fit on original SVT mount. I am always searching for original mounts. If you want I can send you an email once I find some. Those are pricy (200-250) but available. Usually from former USSR countries.

The repro set on ebay at $535 came from Accumount. I had read on a french forum, they are crazy about svt sniper, and they have great comment about the Accumount setup, they are supposed to fit very nicely. I have also found mount in germany, they are made in ukraine and sell for 169 euro($227) The Sarco mount look crappy,i dont know if the ones Numrich sell are good, they seems to look better than the Sarco ones. Ofc original mount if complete and in good shape are not so expensive at $250. must be some that sleep in warehouses somewhere? I hope to complete my SVT for the spring so i try to look at alls possibles options. I will try to wait fews weeks before buying anything but i know me....... Sergey if you can find somes originals mounts, i would gladly take one and i,m sure i would not be the only one. Damn, now i wont sleep for weeks!

Is Sergey can indeed get an original mount for $250 that is a smokin' deal...grab it.

PM sent regarding the mount. Also the scope.

I also have a Sniper model SVT40 with the rail and back notch. The rifle looks like it's never been fired. The stock is a Navy AVT stock. It has the safety notch (ie safety/automatic) notches on both sides. Can't wait to get it looking the way it should. :D

These rifles are addictive. I'm not a milsurp collector and already I'm at 6 of the darn things. One of the few surplus rifles that's really interested me.

I cant wait to get mine:) I take a chance to order a mount from germany, mount is repro made in ukraine. The Numrich ones are made in taiwan, doesnt mean they are not good but i prefer ukrainian stuff. For now i bought a scope from Westrifle, i will see later for an original wartime mount and scope. The repro scope from Accumount look great but nothing in common beside the look. Mecanisme is different, the posts of the crosshair are a bit farther appart, my sniper will have ukrainian and russian hardware:) For now will be ok.
