SVT 40 Speculation

Mine has a I think Dec 09 (maybe 08 haven't looked in a while) import mark under the Tula star and date if I remember correctly. It does have a plum carrier, the stock is a nice shellack though, and the parts are matching (though electropenciled, so matching refurbished).

I'll have to post pictures. I've posted before, there are clear batches of imports. The first I know were SA marked and sold by International Firearms. Globe had another batch which they couldn't sell and converted to .303BR. The next group I know were through G4 (?) and I bought one from Jose. These have German government proof marks. Until Ukraine flooded the market direct to Canada, those were the newest arrivals. They have plum carriers, flaky shellacked stocks and mismatched parts.

All SVT's that came from Ukraine have force matched EPed (but sometimes stamped) numbers, unless rifle was humped here. Except mag of course.
Earlier import from Germany were also typical refurbs with the same features, but I believe they went from Ukraine to Germany, then back to Ukraine and only then to Canada. Reason for that is DE 09 UA stamp on receiver, German export marking, while Canada and Ukraine do not require any import export markings.
