SVT 40 trigger issue?

Hi guys,
I'm new to this forum and to the whole shooting and hunting thing. Bought my first gun - the sks- and got hooked up on spending time outdoors with friends shooting it and having a blast!
So here I am, just got my second gun, the SVT 40. It arrived yesterday, I cleaned it up and noticed that the bolt is very hard to pull when it cocks the trigger. When the trigger is armed, then the bolt slides back and forth using a reasonable force but to actually pull the bolt back to arm the trigger requires quite an effort.
Any ideas on what can be done here?

So the bolt is hard to pull back after the hammer is dropped but easy after its cocked? That pretty normal, your sks should be like that to.

Did you remove the trigger group for cleaning? If no, you should remove for inspection to see how the hammer work and for obvious binding. The hammer sproing is quite stiff on a SVT so some efforts is normal, depend how hard is a big effort for you. I am pretty sure that all is normal with your trigger assembly since thoses SVT have been arsenal refurbed.

No, my sks is much easier to pull. I understand that the cocking the gun requires more effort but it takes probably 5 times more pressure on a bolt handle to pull it back on svt.
And yes, I did clean the trigger assembly. May be the svt is harder to #### than sks?
For those of you guys who own both guns - is there much difference in your rifles to #### the trigger?
 
Make sure you lube the trigger assembly very well. Something like this happened to me after cleaning with brake clean. Even if you have to give your trigger group an oil bath and wipe down. After installing work bolt back lots of times without mag in

I own both and there is hardly a difference a all.Just a little click back and badda bing....good to go..
 
I think the SKS and SVT are comparable and if I noticed that I had to use a considerable amount of extra effort on one or the other, I'd rip the one apart that was giving me issues and check the springs for kinking anywhere
 
Thank you all, guys! I did take the trigger assembly apart again and thoroughly inspected it. I could not see any damages. I lubricated it heavily with ballistol and worked the hammer back and forth. I also inspected in details the receiver cover and the rail and could not see any abnormalities. After assembling the rifle it works a little bit smoother. I also had a chance to compare my gun to another one and there is definitely a difference in how much force I needed to apply to pull the bolt back. At this moment I'm going to leave it the way it is. I have not had a chance to shoot it yet - it was too bloody cold here. I will post an update after I fire the gun.
