SVT 40 value?

I had planned to buy 2 more back when they were $300. Not for investment but because I really like the rifles.
But I kept putting off the purchase, now I regret that. And my solo Svt is lonely.

same boat, and then was going to get a mosin sniper when they were 500 for a real one, held off, now just a lonely svt

When I first shouldered a SVT 40 I was {pleasantly} surprised how Nice & Point-able & Light it was. That wasnt long ago. I got lucky & did a trade for one, even though I'd been eyeing them since about the $450 mark..but glad I Finally got one about a month ago- if it wasn't for the Trade, I would still not have one. Can't wait to finally go shoot it!

Price out a G43. They are less reliable and less well made compared to either the M1 or SVT, but look at the price. I have short production run guns in the collection that came for less than some of the much better known pieces.

I think I've said this before.... it's not surprising that SVT prices have climbed to where they are..... but it is amazing that they were available for so little initially. How the heck did we get so lucky to have one of the few full power, wide issue, self loading rifles of WWII available for $250?

The Prices of lots of the milsurps in the last 5-10 years have gone crazy!! Good thing I got most of my collection before this happened! The prices on Lee Enfield's including P14's and M17's, K31's, SVT40's, M1 Garands, Any of the original trench shotguns, Mosin 91/30's, Fin M39's, Inglis High Powers, German P38's/P1's, Radom vis 35's, VZ 52/57's, MAS 36, 36/51, 44,49,49/56's to name some that have really climbed up there.

I'm thinking if you like or have wanted to get your hands on some amazing Swedish Mauser's, you best do it soon! Still way undervalued for what they are and how they shoot! Glad I have my 4 already 2 M96's, M94/14, and 38/96.
